Trips
Auckland Speleo Group runs a variety of trips, catering for all abilities from beginners upwards in terms of both general caving and rope skills. From almost dry walk-through caves to challenging vertical systems with waterfalls and rope descents, we visit all the caves that New Zealand has to offer.
It is important that you contact the trip leader as early as possible to register your interest and guarantee yourself a place. Some trips have restricted numbers of participants and trips will only go ahead if there are sufficient numbers. The club welcomes new members and takes an interest in training and developing their caving skills.

ASG Xmas party and Caving weekend – Waitomo
December 2, 2023 - December 3, 2023
Now summer is here it is time to head down to Waitomo for a social weekend with a smattering of underground activities.
The traditional ASG Christmas should not be missed. There will be caving trips Saturday morning and Sunday, but the emphasis is on the social activities Saturday afternoon and evening.
Saturday afternoon we will bring back the traditional Christmas cricket. Antony Stubbs has begun preparing the wicket on the airstrip. Don’t worry if you don’t understand cricket. (who does) The rules are simple, each player will be play to a handicap. Just bring along a deckchair, some gin and tonic as well as a sunhat.
Additional afternoon activities may also be on the cards – these may or may not create more adrenaline than the cricket.

We will organise a communal dinner for Saturday, where there is sure to be intense analysis of the cricket and then crack onto a bit of evening socialising. (AKA Boozing and over eating)
If you can think of a cave you would like to do on Saturday morning then speak up and we will try to organise it.

12 and under: free of charge
118 and over: free of charge
